At 1st Solicitors we don’t offer cut price legal services but we do offer value for money and sound legal advice focused on your particular needs.

In many cases our experience, our commitment to resolving issues quickly and constructively and our good relationships with other services may result in the overall costs being comparable to or even less than other providers who appear, at first glance, to offer lower charges.

We offer a free initial appointment on family matters when we will address your most pressing concerns, help you to decide how you would like us to assist you and advise on the likely costs involved.

We also offer a free review of your Will and Estate Planning without commitment.

We don’t use Legal Executives, Paralegals or unqualified members of staff. Your solicitor will be a Partner in the practice who has decades of experience in their specialist field.

In common with other solicitors, the majority of our work for family matters is charged at a standard hourly rate, which reflects the experience and expertise of our solicitors. We do charge fixed fees for conveyancing, Wills and Powers of Attorney and some other legal processes.

If you can’t see the information you need on this page, please call us on 01785 213234 and our experienced staff will do their best to answer your queries.

Family Law, including divorce, civil partnership, finance and children

The overall cost will be effected by the method by which your case is resolved, whether that involves an application to Court, negotiation with the other party, Collaborative Procedure or Mediation.

Most family work is charged at an hourly rate which reflects the solicitor’s experience and qualifications and comparison of hourly rates alone is not necessarily indicative of overall cost.

We always provide an estimate of cost at the outset and we will inform, in writing, if this changes as your case progresses. We offer lower hourly rates for clients in receipt of Working and Child Tax Credits and for members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

For clients who need greater certainty and only limited assistance we offer a pay as you go Advice Only service and some fixed fee packages.

We offer the following fixed fee

Divorce - from £450.00 + VAT

Court Hearings - from £550.00 + VAT

Separation Agreements - from £600.00 + VAT

Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements - from £600.00 + VAT

Change of Name Deed - from £120.00 + VAT

Collaborative Family Law - from £2,400 + VAT

Please note that all of our fixed fee packages are subject to our assessment of the suitability of your case. Fixed fees may be available for other matters, please ask at your free initial appointment.

Our Advice Only service is charged at our usual hourly rate.

For all fees we offer Armed Forces Personnel a discount of up to 10%.

Conveyancing

We believe that our charges compare well with others in the region. We don’t aim to be the cheapest but we do aim to provide an excellent local, personal service and value for money. We will provide you with a fixed estimate before you decide to appoint us to act for you in your sale or purchase.

Our fees from £475.00 are based on the value of the transaction and its complexity.

Once we have provided you with a fixed cost for conveyancing it is most unlikely that that will change but we do reserve the right to make an additional charge if, during the course of the transaction, it becomes apparent that there is a significant amount of additional work that was not anticipate at the time when the initial quote was given.

Please use our enquiry form or call us on 01785 213234 for a bespoke quote.
